OVERVIEW
Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a process whereby high pressure is applied across a semi-permeable membrane to allow the purification of water to take place. Excess pressure is required to reverse the effects of osmosis, hence the name Reverse Osmosis, to obtain a clean effluent. The RO is capable of removing particles or molecules of up to 1 angstrom in size. This would meant that viruses, sugar molecules and metal ions would be retained by the membrane. The effluent produced would be high quality water suitable for consumption.
As the effluent from the RO is clean, pure drinking water. It can be used as boiler feed water, water for dilution in food and beverage industries and production of drinking water from ground and surface water.

APPLICATIONS
From the above advantages mentioned, the RO is suitable for numerous industries. Some examples of suitable industries would be:

  • Water Purification
  • Food Preparation
  • Automobile
  • Desalination
  • Reef Aquarium
  • Chemical Process
